God's Love

I have been praying for some time now for God to show me His Love.  Having grown up without a father and adding the many times I have felt betrayed by many people in my life, I have had a hard time understanding and comprehending the Love of God that the Bible speaks of.  God can often speak to us in the most common of activities.  Sunday morning as I was showering, the thought came to my mind that God's Love is described in 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8.  Now I have always thought of the scripture in terms of Weddings, etc.  For the first time I thought of this in terms of God describing his Love for us. He gave us this scripture to tell us how to love others as He loves us.  This is how it reads:

God is patient
God is Kind
God does not envy
God does not boast
God is not rude
God is not self-seeking
God is not easily angered
God keeps no record of wrongs
God does not delight in evil
God rejoices in truth
God always protects
God always trusts
God always hopes
God always perseveres
God never fails

I find it interesting that the negatives are sandwiched between the positives.  I am going to type this up, laminate it and carry with me.  The next time I question God's Love, I can take it out and read it and remember God Never Fails.

Father's Day

Summer has arrived without waiting for Spring. The weather has been great, in the high 70's and low 80's and we are getting some much needed rain. My husband and I celebrated Father's day by taking a short trip to Rice Lake. We had lunch at The China Buffet. We ate too much, but it was soooo good. We than went to out favorite store, "Dayton's" my mother-in-law, but it is really Good Will. You never know what treasure you will find. I found two very pretty Princess crystal vases, a couple shirts, almost new; and a couple of books to add to my "to be read" pile. All in all it was a pleasant afternoon.

Where is Spring?

It is spring in the Northwoods. I am wondering where the warm weather has gone. It continues to remain cold. 35 degrees this morning and cloudy. Yesterday we had a much needed day of rain to quench the dry ground. Many of my annuals have died from the lack of moisture. I spent all afternoon Sunday digging a new flower bed and transplanting my peonies. The rain did them a lot of good. I then tried to tackle digging out an old rose bush in another bed. It has been there for 9 years and does not want to leave. I dug and dug until my arms were sore. It is still there. I guess it won this battle, but I will try again when the rain lets up.

I continue to look forward to a warming up and a hot summer ahead. God is Good and he is in control. God Bless.

Wasting time.

I am have been sitting around here for a week recovering from surgery. Feeling a bit depressed as the recovery is taking longer than I anticipated. Will be returning to work tomorrow.

I have decided to try my hand at writing. This seems as good a place as any to start. I started an online writing group to get feedback in my writing. Not sure even where to start, but it is something I have always wanted to do. I think I will start by writing short stories about things I know and have experienced in my own life. I am contemplating purchasing a Microsoft Word software. I had an old version, but lost the number to access it. So now out of luck. Using a new product called Open Office. Seems compatible with the Microsoft product so that is a good thing. Will work with that for the time being. See where that will take me.

It is a beautiful day here in Wisconsin. About 60 degrees with the sun sunshine throught wispy clouds. There is a bit of a breeze. My lilacs are blooming and smell like heaven. It has been very dry here. Need rain badly. After a long winter, it is great to hear the birds singing so sweetly in the trees and feel a warmer breeze flowing over my skin. God is Good!!

I have been reading a book, "Reading Lolita in Tehran." It is a fascinating view of life in Tehran for those who have independent thinking. I have a new respect for the women and men who maintain their faith under adversity. I have a new compassion for what the women in this country have gone through and continue to suffer from the intense fear that some humans have and how it exhibits itself through hatred and brutality toward the very thing(s) they fear. Most of the fear is internal and self centered. It appears to me to be a fear of the very essence of our humanity be that our sexuality, self, safety, etc. Maybe that is what we fear the most, ourselves. Instead of fixing ourselves we set out to destroy each other and what we preceive as the faults of others. In the end who do we really destroy. It is a very thought provoking book.

Schweickert

My husband is Bernard Charles Schweickert. His father was August R. Schweickert. His grandfather was Charles Schweickert. They lived in LaSalle, Illinois. August was one of 24 children born to Charles Schweickert. Charles came to the states from Germany with 3 other brothers. After they came into the states they lost contact with each other. A very large family, however, Bernard is an only child. We have two children Charles A. Schweickert and Angela Katherine Schweickert Smith. If you are a Schweickert, please contact me. We are always interested in finding other family members.

Well, it has been a long time since I tried posting on this blog. In two years, no hits. Life is busy for all of us. Does not seem like 2 years since I went out and started this blog and the last time I made a post. Where does time go.

I spent the last 1 1/2 losing 95 pounds. It was not easy, but with the grace of God, I was able to do it. I feel so much better and healthier. Yesterday we went to a Wedding for a friend and I was able to dance with my granddaughters. It was so much fun! They has a blast.

Life if much better when we are healthy.

I have no great words of wisdom for anyone, but would enjoy a friend or two on the blog.
